Many creatives call upon other mediums to fuel their process. Type designer Tobias Frere-Jones once said, "It’s possible to find an answer before you actually know what the question is." Experimenting in other mediums is like learning how other people solve the same math problem differently in middle school. The more systems we waltz into and make mistakes in, the more we learn about what works and what doesn't. The more "answers" we've hoarded, the more questions can be asked in the future.
Here's one of my favorite places to waltz in. Academic drawing of the human body and the painting process have always fascinated me. These are some paintings I have done, some commissioned and some on my free-time. Some are from reference and some are from imagination.
